Ruby Tuesday # 18 : Fountain

My friend invited me yesterday for celebrating her Father's birthday at the beach and since I woke up late and have to do an update here, I just followed them. 12:00 n.n., I arrive at the venue that I passed by with this fish fountain along the pathway. I thought for an entry for Ruby Tuesday so I stopped and took a picture of this cute little fish fountain.

A Costume for their Program

Last Sunday, my eldest daughter has bugging me to buy her costumes for their program on Wednesday. While we roamed around the mall to buy her a costume, I noticed that they already displaying some halloween costumes on racks. Other countries would be wearing those glaring and scary halloween costumes, I love to see them in real but I guess we could not witness that anymore. My husband seems want to give up living there with us, so maybe we are not meant to be there.

Moreover, Mj was able to choose what she needed to wear for the upcoming event at school. She is so excited. She even told me that she would be holding a flower, so yesterday I was so busy drawing a flower for her to at least she has something to use today during their practice.

PBWeekend: Kadayawan Sale

This is what I bought during the Kadayawan Sale here in Davao. The price of the pants supposedly worth P200.00 pesos they gave it to me only P179.00, the blouse was P399.00 with a 5% discount, that's worth only P379.05. The sandals were supposed to be P600.00, it was 50% discount so they sell it for only P300.00, now tell me did I get a real discount this time? Hehehe, now I am looking forward for another sale.

Sunday Stealing # 12 : The Majorly Personal Meme, Part 2

I and my daughter Mj just finished cleaning the house; I was also done feeding my little monster Faith. So that explains why I am here ready to post my Sunday Stealing entry. Whew! It has been two weeks that I didn't post any Meme's and to start the week, here's my entry for Sunday Stealing. Cheers to all the thieves out there, here in blogosphere.

21. If you were to live your life without your best friend, what would change?

Surely, I have no one I can talk about anything in this world.

22. Tell us about a era of your life that you really miss.

My Friends in college

23. Have you ever been betrayed by someone that came as a complete surprise? Without revealing the person, if yes, tell us about it.

In my 32 years of existence I don't have a major major, I mean encountered as such, hehehe.

24. Do you ever think that is a good idea to hide your feelings?

Nope, well I do sometimes. But for me, you really have to tell what you feel towards a person so to avoid conflicts because if you just let it inside yourself, you might lose the chance to settle with that person or to tell him/her what do you have inside your heart.

25. Tell us about your favorite year when you were a student.

College, because I encountered many challenges in life from day 1 until I graduated. I don't regret having those trials since I really learned from those.

25. When was the last time you were in a very good mood? What caused it?

It was during when I said yes to my husband for us to become officially on.

26. Have you ever had a romantic relationship with a sibling of a good friend?

NONE

27. Tell us about the last thing that you did that you truly regret.

Trusting someone whom I didn't expect he would just fool me around.

28. When did you laughed today?

This morning, Faith was doing a silly faces.

29. Do you trust easily?

If this was asked years ago I would say yes but if this is ask only now, NO.

30. What do you care about that you wish more people would?

Stop ranting over someone's did, why they don’t just mind their own life.

31. Is it easier for you to go without food or go without sleep?

No, it will give me a headache.

32. What non-alcohol beverage do you enjoy drinking the most?

Coke

33. When you walk into a room full of strangers, generally how is your confidence?

Not so, usually I'll just lay down my head and walk straight to a corner where I could just sit.

34. Does talking about sex with anyone but your lover make you uncomfortable?

I don't talk sex with anyone except my husband.

35. Do you tend to believe members of the opposite sex mostly behave the same way?

No

36. Did you drink any alcohol this week? If yes, what?

Nope

37. Would you ever consider being a vegetarian?

No, it is shameful to say but I really don't like vegetables, however I need to eat some otherwise I may die early.

38. Do you believe that there’s always room in your heart for someone?

Not anymore I am totally taken and totally happy with my marriage life.

39. Do you believe in the concept of soul mates?

Yes

40. Last week, we had a few players criticize our victim’s questions. Which is fine to do and we value your opinion. Would you ever consider writing questions for Bud and me to post on a Sunday Stealing?

Maybe, but I have to think it over like weeks so I could write a question that has sensed.

Brownout!

It is just so annoying when you are so busy in front of the computer then suddenly the light went off. It just happened to me tonight, while Mj and Faith were so busy watching the Shaun the Sheep, the electricity suddenly went off, it is brownout once again here in our place. And yet I needed to finish my online task.

I and Mj helped each other to locate the match using her cellphone so we could light our candle, while Faith was busy screaming, and take note it was in the middle of the night. Don't get me wrong, Faith already slept awhile ago and she just woke up, it is Saturday here so my eldest daughter doesn't have a class tomorrow thus she is free to watch TV or to play in the computer, tonight she chooses to watch the Shaun The Sheep and she supposedly watching until now only if the light did not went off. Well, I was still thankful because I have my USB Smart bro with me, and since I am not using it for weeks already the balance amount remain unused. I was still able to finish my pending task.

Helping Kids Reduce Stress

After Mj is set off to school, I turned the TV on and was able to watch a talk show from Net 25; their topic is helping kids reduce stress. It caught my interest since Mj was so busy these past few months, It wonders me now if she is already stress without letting me know or she is still alright with her busy schedule. I love Mj, there's no question about that, but I want her to explore other activities as well other than being just at school although some forums said that the kids get too stressed at times with their activities.

I already thought about reducing her activities though since I got stress also. And I already even started it few weeks ago, she will be no longer attended her swimming class on Monday, on Tuesday she still have to catch up with her English in Kumon but on Wednesday since she is already okay with her Math, I planned to just exchange her worksheets and would attend the Math session on Saturday for two hours and one hour for English. In that way she has 3 days rest at home. Their school is not giving much homework so we just reviewing her notes in Science and in Civics sometimes at night and in the morning. A little glimpse on her English and Filipino subjects, she's doing well on her Math so I let the school takes good care of that. Why I am concentrating on her Science and Civics, it is because she is really having a hard time memorizing facts and history. Anyway, I am trying to rearrange her schedule now, it is odd that I never thought about that when the school just started, and in addition to that, the program that I just watched this morning broadened my mind in so many ways that it is not really good to push our kids to some activities, although Mj is not complaining but I could feel she is drawing back.

Hence, I am so glad that their school is not sending assignments, I mean as what the guest professor said this morning, that sometimes the kids get too confused whether what is the school and house all about, is the house serve as they have to continue their lessons or is it a resting place. The kids should not be confused about that, inasmuch as we knew the house is for them to rest from their stressful day at school or a place where they could play games with their siblings. A little touch for their lessons at school could do then after that let them do what they want to do, but surely computer is out as one of the activities at home during weekdays.

Helping kids reduce stress, a HEAT could help us with that

H- Hear them out. Have time to listen for their daily activities at school, of course that should be in the proper time, just like for example with Mj when she talks, she talks without minding that she already getting so slow taking her breakfast. So I interrupt her and told her she should eat first before she could talk, otherwise she will be late at school.

E- Express, when they can't tell their feelings about a certain thing. As a parent, we should guide and teach them how to express themselves.

A-Action, take action like if they feel so low and depressed, you might as well bring them to a place where they can just be themselves, a park or in a beach where they could wind up.

T- Time, give time. Give them enough time like a one hour of watching TV then after watching their favorite program; they have to study their lesson as well to catch up with their quizzes the next day.

Cats from the Neighborhood and our Aircon

There are cats outside our house, I guess they are already family. I noticed their father at first, then there's a mom and recently I found two kittens in our empty pot outside our house. These cats used to live in the neighborhood but I am not sure if they were fed because they keep on asking foods from us. Now I found out that they don't have shelter anymore, I guess our neighbor neglected them at all, I know how smelly the cats are but they should use a dehumidifier so their house will not be that smelly not that they would abandon the cats. I felt pity with the cats though so whenever they are here to visit us, I made sure I have foods set aside so we could feed them. Faith is enjoying the moment with them, although she is allowed only to watch them while they were eating as she has allergies, she would sneeze at times when she gets near them.

Moreover, I still have issue with my aircon though, it blows some dust anymore, and it is so smelly that I end up sneezing most of the time last night. I turned it off later, good thing Faith did not demand to turn it on but she felt so uneasy though, sometimes she would cry in the middle of the night feeling so uncomfortable, it was a bit hot last night even though we switch our electric fan on.

Did you know that?

My Niece has this journal from school that I borrowed recently. I found the "Did you know that" portion of their magazine interesting. I am not sure if you already knew or maybe you are already aware that...

  • The oldest insurance company in the Philippines is the Insular Life Insurance Company. It was established on November 25, 1910. It was also the first to introduce an insurance school in the Philippines in 1953.
  • The first time a Filipino ever used a chair was in April 1521 when Ferdinand Magellan gave Rajah Humabon a red, velvet Spanish chair. According to Halupi, a book of essays on Philippine history, early Filipinos used to sit on the floor.
  • If all the moisture in the air were condensed or gathered, it could add three more inches of water to the Eart's surface.
  • Boulder City is the only city in the state of Nevada, where gambling remains illegal. The city was originally created to house workers for the Hoover Dam project. The government did not want the workers to waste their time and money, so gambling was prohibited.
  • For every gallon of seawater. there is at least a quarter-pound worth of salt in it. Seawater is 3.2% salt. So far every liter of seawater, there are 32 grams of salt.

Babies Behind Bars

It is indeed so hard when a mother got behind bars and she is having a baby on the way. I didn't expect some kids got into jail because of their Mom, some mothers out there wanted to have their babies to be adopted, some Mom wanted to keep their babies in the jail with them but it is also the right of the child to live life outside those grilled bars. It is good to know that the DSWD would get them when the baby turns one year old.

One mother was so confused what to do when she was informed that in due time, the DSWD would get the baby eventually after her first birthday. She doesn't want to be separated with her baby, but this is for the concern of the baby, since the prison bars doesn't have enough space and air or even food for the baby to grow normally, imagine 70 prisoners would try to fit in to a very small space that supposedly only 20 person could fit in, yes the kid needs his Mom presence, her love, her compassion and her touch but we are also concerned of what kind of future that stores for the baby if he stay behind bars.

There are still many babies who are still in jail together with their mom, it is so depressing to see them, growing with an environment that is not healthy at all. Thus, when we knew that they could have a minute of freedom through their mother's touch and hug, do we have the strength to get them and put them under the care of an institution? I felt pity for the kids yet I am also considering their future.

Don't mess up with the Priest

It is a protocol that when you are inside the church at whatever occasion that is, you should be quiet and should listen to the word of GOD. Even there's no mass going on, one should be silence for there are other people who were praying. When we attended a wedding last month, I was so stunned when the priest asked someone in front of the altar, "are you done?" can you imagine, he asked that to a lady who happens to be the matron of honor at that time, three times.

It was during when the priest asked us to kneel, that we noticed the priest looked so annoyingly at the matron of honor, she was doing her retouched without even minding to kneel down, she did not notice the priest looking at her because she was too busy. During rise, the priest can't help it anymore that he bluntly asked the lady, we were so stunned, the lady just stopped then she pretends as if nothing happen. I guess the priest really pissed off, that he finished the wedding mass so fast, he didn't even told the groom to kiss the bride, the wedding has lost its meaning and solidarity just because of that one big mess caused by the matron of honor. So when you attend a mass or even just a wedding mass, take at least some time to focused yourself to the homily, we can do a retouched after anyway or act decency so you don't interrupt anyone at the mass.

Shopping Today

Yes we did shop today for the Kadayawan sale is still hitting each of the malls. I bought a pair of sandals from Faridez, Mj got a new pair of pants since all her pants have outgrown already and Faith got a new bike. I'd been planning to buy her a bike but due to being busy I was not able to do so, we supposedly would go to the swimming lesson of Mj but we didn't pursue it since I got so tired anymore from roaming around the mall. Now, the kids are so busy with their favorite TV program here in our humble abode, it's Pheneas and Ferb so expect Faith to be so hooked up with it, anyhow here's what we shop today.

It has been awhile

It has been a while since I did not updated this blog, well I was rested and I was just online when my husband is online. I still have a cough for now but I already have my medicine for it, I still took seretide for my asthma since it attacked me when I had a fever. Believe me, it is not easy to get sick especially when you have a two year old toddler, good thing Mj was not affected though we still did not went to her swimming lessons because nobody could send her at that time.

She was so happy when her schedule was not that tight, that all she has to do is to study her exam and watch TV but I guess she has born a swimmer since after two weeks, she missed the water so much. So even I am still not feeling well and was still so sleepy due to the medicine I am taking, I drag myself to send her to the swimming venue. Her training was so long today, she spent three hours in the pool because she has to fill in those programs she misses two weeks ago.

Football Season

Football season is almost here and that means two things. The first is that on Saturday and Sunday there will be a lot of football games on television. The second, it’s getting close to the holiday season. Football is very popular in the U.S. and football mementos make great Christmas presents, personalized footballs for football jerseys are nice gifts to give. I will do my best to watch football with my hubby, but I think I might like shopping more.

I Am Making Up

Don't be surprise when I am writing my entry for the Meme's I joined so late and it was all together in one day. I am just trying to make up from being hiatus due to some flu I caught, and I leave my comments since this morning, I hope it is enough for you to at least visit me back once again. I know I need to sleep and get more rest but I can't help it while I know I have to consider you all guys. It is great to see you commenting my blog and if I haven't visit you back yet, I'll try to visit you later tonight after I will get some nap.

While Waiting

While waiting for her schedule for swimming and she can't get to nap at the cottage in the swimming venue, I always told her to work on her worksheets. This time she was done with her Math, so as I was busy doing my online task.

Striking a pose while she was doing her Kumon worksheets

Me in my mini laptop

To modernize our bathroom in Maryland

Our home in Maryland is approaching 40 years old. Though the bathrooms are okay, my husband tells me he would like to modernize them. He wants to replace the sink, tub, bathroom fans and redo the color screen. All bathroom really need to have a fan. It not only helps with ventilation, but can help keep the occurrence of mold and mildew down. I want to be the one to paint them, but who will keep Faith out of the paint? Can you imagine what a two year old can do with a paint brush? I know Mj could keep her company but how I wish that during the painting Mj is not at school so she could help us around the house.

Over Fatigue

Next to my niece Mariel who captured a flue just these past few days, I started to catch flu too. Not just a flu though but I was over stress as well, got a severe headache and it was too unbearable. From then on I knew it was some sort of,bug hat,or,binat, I am not sure if you believe in this, maybe it is like a chronic fatigue, or there might be no scientific explanation of this illness. This happens to me every now and then even I gave birth for like years especially if I slept too late and I can't get a nap in daytime. So we went to the church where there are stalls sells himughat, it is a variety of some branches of woods. All you have to do is boil it and drink it. I sweat a lot from 39 it went down to 38 then 37 then I got the normal body temperature. When I woke up this morning my headache was gone, from two days of having that now I am fully recovered I just need more ample of rest and take my medicines the pulmonologist gave me.,

I was so scared when we went to my pulmonologist yesterday noon, he asked me directly if there are dengue cases in our area, I told him I haven't heard of any. He checked my blood pressure and since I have a history of asthma, he gave me seretide and medicines for my cough. He told me then that if my fever won't be gone after three days I should go back there on Monday to check my platelet. Well, I guess I don't have to since I am definitely alright now.

Keeping my family healthy while experiencing four seasons

We do not have a furnace in our home here in the Philippines, but our house in Maryland has one. It heats the whole house on those cold autumn and winter days. To keep it running efficiently and to keep the air inside the house clean we replace the furnace filters periodically. None of us tolerate dust very well, having clean filters help keep dust out of the air.

We are not really used to the cold and I don’t intend on opening the windows to air out the house when it is cold outside. I look forward to snow and experiencing four seasons, but I also want to keep my family healthy. Changing the furnace filters will help me do that.

Couples Corner : Likes and Dislikes

Rodliz’s Nest

Nothing much of I know of when it comes to likes and dislikes of my husband one thing I believe he doesn't like is he does not want to be pinch, oh how he hated that and I like doing it. He likes to annoy me sometimes and what makes it worst is that I was so serious talking to him about something and he kind a joking me around, I just ignored him if he does that. He said I am so kulit, well I keep reminding him, I will not kulit him if he does what I want him to do, okay if that is being kulit so be it. Lol.

He dislikes the smell of a dried fish and I so love it, he dislikes the color pink and it is my second favorite, he doesn't like to go to an appointment late in the afternoon and I like to go out in the afternoon, he dislikes waking up so late well I and mostly the kids like to wake up so late, so he end up waiting for us.

Want to join and share the likes and dislikes of you and your hubby just click the badge above thanks!

When we take her with us

Before Faith was walking and we would go somewhere, it was hard to take her with us. We bought a stroller for her so that we would not wear ourselves out when taking her with us. She really enjoyed riding in the stroller.

A Bob revolution stroller is one that allows active parents to take their baby along when they want to job or walk their dog. When we ran or walked fast with Faith in the stroller she would really laugh and scream and have fun. I am glad she is growing, but I miss the days when she was less mobile. Faith is a handful and I still have to carry her in the mall or she will run off and we will have to chase her down.

Ruby Tuesday # 17 : Catalogue

Ruby Tuesday

The exclusive subdivision that I like so much could not just dripped away in my mind, I keep on thinking about it. It would be so nice to live in a gated community with a lot of amenities around but just today those dreams slipped away when I found out the condition of my niece. Maybe those dreams could wait, I hope.

On the other note, here's the catalogue that my Aunt sent me:

Did you see some ruby color? Join us in if you want to share some ruby in your life.

Few Facts About Mosquitoes

Since I'd been so freaking worried about the outbreak here in our place. I found myself searching of the life span of mosquitoes, well for me, I hope they die the moment they are born. We are near a place where malaria also one issue and that frightened me so much. I am trying to spray the living room every night, when the kids are already inside our bedroom but they said it is also not good to do it everyday.

My faith in GOD to protect us daily is my one and only hope that nothing would do us any harm, not anyone or not even this kind of mosquito. These are the facts I found in the Internet a while ago.

  • Only female mosquitoes bite; using proteins from a blood meal to produce eggs. Most species can produce several batches of eggs during their lifetime.
  • The mosquito's visual picture, produced by various parts of its body, is an infrared view produced by its prey's body temperature.
  • The average life span of the female mosquito is 3 to 100 days; the male's is 10 to 20 days.
  • Depending on species, female mosquitoes may lay 100 to 300 eggs at a time and may average 1,000 to 3,000 during their lifespan.
  • Adults can live for several weeks, feeding on carbohydrate sources such as nectar and fruit juices.
  • Worldwide, mosquito-borne diseases kill more people than any other single factor. In the United States, mosquitoes vector (spread) several types of encephalitis, dog heartworm, and malaria.
  • The larval and pupil stages can be found in a variety of aquatic habitats including: discarded containers, tires, temporary woodland pools, tree and crab holes, salt marshes, and irrigation ditches.
  • Most mosquitoes remain within 1 mile of their breeding site. A few species may range up to 20 miles or more.
  • There are over 170 described species of mosquitoes from North America. Several species have been accidentally introduced from other parts of the world.
  • Depending on temperature, mosquitoes can develop from egg to adult in as little as 4-7 days.
  • Presently, the cues used by mosquitoes to find their hosts are poorly understood. Carbon dioxide (CO2), heat, octenol and light have been shown to be attractants. Other compounds tested such as lactic acid also have proved to attract certain species of biting insects.
  • The larvae are filter feeders of organic particulates.

One way to protect your credit cards

Identity theft and credit card fraud are major problems. It is important for each of us to keep our personal information safe. Never tell a stranger any personal information such as, ID numbers, credit card numbers.

Even simple things such as birthdays and your mothers maiden name may be used by identity thieves. An rfid wallet is one way to protect your credit cards. Some card contain “smart” chips where emit a radio signal that can be intercepted an used by unauthorized persons. Keep your personal information safe and when you use online based email or social websites use strong passwords.

Psychic Kids

There are things in this world that is unexplainable, there are others may see it or feel it, others may not., I am not sure if you would be happy if you have this gift but one thing for sure, one must face it otherwise you may forever get scared of all the unexplainable things you see.

I watched yesterday the Psychic kids in Bio Channel, and I saw how these kids were scared of their talent. One was being rejected by friends because they thought that she is a freak, the other one does not have a good relationship with her Mom because she is worried she might not understand her, and the last one failed her grades at school because the spirits are bothering her and she could not concentrate on her studies.

But through the help of some professional psychic they were able to overcome their fear. The two enhanced their capability but the other one wanted those spirits to leave her alone. Talents like these would not be easy to get rid off, no matter how we avoid keeping seeing things, but if we try to talk to them, maybe we will not be afraid anymore instead we can enhance this ability. Don't get me wrong, I don't even wish for this kind of talent, but if you notice that some of your relative has this kind of gift, its better to ask help from a professional so they could help them.

Be back later if I can

I am so tired and I don't know why, probably because I'd been trying so hard to click my entrecard for at least 150 clicks, and so as my adgitize. Faith woke up so late again so I had time but my head keeps on wanting me to lie down. Later, Faith woke up and I had no time to go back to bed because I had to give her some milk in a sippy cup and feed her. I also had to accompany her in the living room because she keeps on dragging me and doesn't want me in front of my computer.

I wash the dishes so late in the afternoon and my headache still did not go away. I have to take a nap that's all I need, good thing my niece is here at home so I don't have to be worry for Faith if she still want to watch Puca, Mr. Bean so on and so forth, Mj at the moment is reviewing her Math. So folks I might be back later.

Couples Corner : Total Opposite

Rodliz’s Nest

Well, I guess we are the living witness of the saying "Opposite Attracts" because we are totally a no-match couple even at the very beginning but guess what, we still love each other no matter what. One example that you could tell that we are so opposite is that I think and plan so fast, he doesn't. He would always say give them one week or two weeks and we would make a follow up, I can't wait for a day so I always bug him. Maybe he is so patience with anything around and I am not. I am so aggressive to make things done and he would always take a moment or two to finish it.

I am extrovert and he is so introvert, when you ask him he won't go into detail, he will just answer yes or no and I am the opposite because I would tell you things even it was not asked. I am the talkative and he is not, he always the quiet one while I am so vocal. I love crabs and shrimps and he doesn't like it, he doesn't even eat fish that much. He loves to read science fiction books like of the star trek or anything that includes stars and the universe and I am into drama, love story or when the leading character is a woman.

I'll worry too much and he keeps me calm, I overly panicked when everything went wrong and he always tells me its alright.

To figure out the rate

Not many people think of foreign currencies or exchange rates, but it is something that is always on my mind. Trying to figure out the exchange rate is sometimes a headache. I don’t know if it is best to get have dollars or pesos.

Forex trading software might help me figure trends and when it is better to have my husband send pesos or dollars. I know that he tracks the exchange rate. He is happier (and so am I) when the dollar is up against the peso because what he sends us buys more. I know that some people try to make money trading currencies; there is always a risk in this kind of venture as exchange rates fluctuate on a day to day basis.

Ruby Tuesday # 16 : Fruits

Ruby Tuesday

These are the fruits that we bought for our wedding last year and just looking for the picture I am craving now for grapes and some apples. I supposed to buy grapes or apples today but oh well I just totally forgot about it. Blame it to the sleepless nights.

PBWeekend : With Cousins at Japanese Tunnel

Photobucket

Since the van that my cousin rented from the province was impound due to lack of papers, they can't get home on Sunday. They have to wait for the owner to come by and wait for the decision, only then later, they found out that the van could not be issued due to some issues they need to attain for. So I invited them to roam around the city then I'll just shoulder the expenses for a rent van.

From the tomb of my Father and my Aunt Eve, we headed to Japanese Tunnel and the People's Park, but let me post here the Japanese Tunnel; next week would be the park. Happy Monday everyone!
